The Lebanese publisher Euclidean Press, LLC is named after the great, of all times, Phoenician-Greek mathematician Eukleides (middle picture), who was born about 330 BC in Tyre (Sour, left picture, of South Lebanon) and died about 260 BC in Alexandria (Hellenistic Egypt, right picture). Greek philosophers, in Athens, used to post on the doors of their school: Let no one come to our school, who has not first learned the Elements of Euclid
It should be noted that this Tyre happens to had been the legendary birth place of Europa and Dido (Elissa) and, together with Jerusalem, was one of the two centers for the successive Solomon - Hiram biblical alliance. |
